3D Flash describes the use of Adobe's Flash player to display simulated three dimensional environments using 3D computer graphics. Flash is primarily a two dimensional environment so typically a library is used to display and manage the three dimensional graphics.

Software libraries and tools include:

  • Away3D, an open source library
  • Blender, a free 3D graphics application that can exporte to Flash
  • Flash Player 10 includes some features for 3D objects
  • Papervision3D, an open source library
  • Sandy, an open source library
  • Swift3D, an application that creates or imports 3D models and exports them for use in Flash
