3 Musketeers is a chocolate bar made in the United States of America by Mars, Incorporated. It is filled with a whipped chocolate center. Outside the U.S., the product is known as Milky Way; this name is, in turn, used in the U.S. for the candy known elsewhere as the Mars bar.
The 3 Musketeers Bar was the third brand produced and manufactured by M&M/MARS, introduced in 1932. 1Originally, it had three pieces of candy in one package, flavored chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, hence the name. Later, the product was changed to a single bar with the aforementioned chocolate filling. It was marketed as the candy bar that was so big it could be shared with five friends.
In the novel The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, père, the three musketeers, Aramis, Porthos, and Athos, were joined by the dashing D'Artagnan. In commercials for the candy bar featuring the characters, there are only three musketeers depicted, but D'Artagnan replaces Aramis.citation needed
