Accel Partners is a private equity firm focused on venture capital investments in two primary sectors: networking and software.
The firm is based in Palo Alto, California with major offices in London and Bangalore.
Since its inception in 1984, Accel has provided venture capital financing for over 200 companies. Amongst others Accel has backed Real Networks, Foundry Networks and Macromedia.
In 2000, Accel entered into a joint-venture with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts to form Accel-KKR a technology-focused private equity investment firm.
