Alex Ott is a mixologist. He started his career at 16 under the wings of Heiko Beck, owner of one of the best cocktail bars in Europe, the Latino in Braunschweig, Germany.citation needed His experience led him to Munich where he had the privilege to refine his craft with legendary mixologist and author of American Bar: The Artistry of Mixing Drinks, Charles Schumann.

Shortly thereafter, he worked at Buddha Bar in Paris.

In 1998, after living in Hua Hin, Thailand, Alex survived a harrowing plane crash near Surat Thani on Thai Airways Flight 261 that killed 101 passengers.citation needed A year after, worked at Sushi Samba. He also gained exposure on the wildly popular HBO series, Sex And The City, followed by reams of publicity about his signature cocktails.

In 2001, he won the award for "Best Mixologist In America" in Las Vegas and in the same year he was named "Bartender Of The Year" by Time Out New York, a title he would hold for three consecutive years.citation needed

He consults for several tv shows and renowned publications, and top literary agent Katharine Sands is working on a major publishing deal for his upcoming book Signature Cocktails by Alex Ott.citation needed His own show for a major network has begun production in 2008.
