Algiers (Arabic : ولاية الجزائر ) is a province in Algeria, named after its capital, Algiers, which is also the national capital. It is adopted from the old French département of Algiers and has a population of about 3 million.

Administrative divisions

It is divided into 13 districts and 57 municipalities. The districts are according to official numbering (they were numbered from west to east):

  1. Zéralda
  2. Chéraga
  3. Draria
  4. Birtouta
  5. Bir Mourad Raïs
  6. Bouzaréah
  7. Bab El Oued
  8. Hussein Dey
  9. Sidi M'Hamed
  10. El Harrach
  11. Baraki
  12. Dar El Beïda
  13. Rouïba
