Altrincham and Sale West ( is a constituency[n 1] represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 1997 by Graham Brady of the Conservative Party.[n 2]

History

The 1995 Boundary Commission review led to its creation for the 1997 election largely from the old seat of Altrincham and Sale, and has been held since then by the Conservative Graham Brady, appointed by his colleagues the chairman of the backbench 1922 Committee (2010 to date).

Boundaries

The constituency is one of three covering the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford. It covers the south of the borough, covering the town of Altrincham and the west of Sale. It comprises the Altrincham, Ashton-on-Mersey, Bowdon, Broadheath, Hale Central, Hale Barns, St. Mary's, Timperley and Village wards of Trafford council.

The constituency includes the most expensive residential streets outside of South-East England.[2]

Boundary review

Following their review of parliamentary representation in Greater Manchester, the Boundary Commission for England has made minor alterations to the existing Altrincham and Sale West seat, with the creation of a seat with the following electoral wards:

  • Altrincham, Ashton upon Mersey, Bowdon, Broadheath, Hale Barns, Hale Central, St Mary's, Timperley, and Village
