The III Atacama Region (Spanish: III Región de Atacama) is one of Chile's 15 first order administrative divisions. Its capital is Copiapó. It comprises three provinces, Chañaral, Copiapó and Huasco. It is border to the north by Antofagasta and to the south by Coquimbo. It is some 800 km north of the capital Santiago.
