Ataxia was a group formed by John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on guitar; Joe Lally of Fugazi on bass; and Josh Klinghoffer on drums. Ataxia wrote and recorded songs for two weeks, and the material was separated into two albums: Automatic Writing (2004) and AW II (2007). In Automatic Writing, Frusciante sang on "Dust", "The Sides", and "Addition"; Klinghoffer sang "Another", and Lally sang "Montreal". The songs all feature a ground-bass line with the guitar overlaying different motives and long developments. Ataxia performed two shows, both at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles on February 2 and February 3, 2004. Following this, the group disbanded.

Future

During an interview for JoshKlinghoffer.Net, Joe Lally was asked about a potential Ataxia Reunion. Following Joe's comments in this interview, sites about the members of Ataxia have launched a campaign website to encourage the band to reunite.
