The Department of Transportation of the city of Baltimore, Maryland, United States operates the public roadways in the city, including street lights, traffic signals, and parking meters. Baltimore is one of only a few citiescitation needed that maintains portions of several Interstate Highways and other freeways, including the Jones Falls Expressway (Interstate 83). The only public roads in Baltimore that are not maintained by the city are Interstate 95, Interstate 395, and Interstate 895, which are controlled by the Maryland Transportation Authority.1
