Butler is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Its postcode is 6036.
Butler is a recently established suburb developed by Satterley's a Western Australian land development company. It has been marketed under the name of "Brighton Estate-Butler".
The suburb name was adopted by the Shire of Wanneroo in 1979 to honour John Butler who was the first recorded explorer of the area in 1834.
Over $120 million has been spent on landscaping, civil construction and community infrastructure to create the first villages, the Village Centre on Marmion Avenue and Central Park Precinct. A Health and Lifestyle Centre is also proposed.
Butler-Brighton has been particularly popular with immigrants, mostly from the United Kingdom but also from South Africa, New Zealand, West and Central Africa and South America.
Schools in Butler include Butler Primary School, East Butler Primary School, Brighton Catholic Primary School and Irene McCormack Catholic College. A proposed second high school for the area is expected to be completed by the Education Department in 2010.
