Chrysostomos L. ("Max") Nikias is executive vice president and provost (chief academic officer) of the University of Southern California. He also holds the Malcolm R. Currie Chair in Technology and the Humanities. Prior to June 1, 2005, he was dean of the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. He describes his research interests as "Statistical signal processing with applications to multimedia systems, communications, radar, sonar and biomedicine. Immersive technologies for the future Internet."
He was born in Cyprus and earned MSc and PhD degrees at the University at Buffalo. He lives in Rancho Palos Verdes with his wife, Niki.
