This category groups together the monthly categories of articles needing general cleanup. Your help in cleaning up these articles is greatly appreciated. The oldest cleanup requests are the highest priority, to prevent embarrassing problems from going unfixed for an indefinite length of time. To increase visibility, the very oldest candidates are usually put on Template:Opentask. From there, they may end up being passed to the Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce.
Please see Wikipedia:Cleanup or the articles' talk pages for reasons why an article was tagged. If you're unsure why the tag is there, you can ask on the talk page, ask the person who added the tag, ask for a third opinion, or ask for an expert opinion on WP:RFC or a WikiProject. If you're sure the article has been cleaned up, addressing any obvious flaws as well as any specific problems mentioned on the talk page, feel free to remove the tag. There's not much harm in leaving it on if you aren't certain what to do; the tag will alert someone else to come by later and check up on the article.
Articles in the monthly subcategories are tagged e.g. {{cleanup|date=July 2008}}.
There are no articles in this category directly. Instead, there are only subcategories, which contain articles sorted by month. In the subcategories, you will find articles needing cleanup, as well as links to some articles that have already been cleaned up. After a while, these listings are generally converted to the above-described tags, and any comments moved to the appropriate article's talk page.
For more specific needs or for help on deciding when and how to tag, see Wikipedia:Cleanup resources.
