This is a Chinese name; the family name is Cheng (程).

Cheng Yu (141 - 220) was an advisor to the Han Dynasty warlord Cao Cao during the Three Kingdoms era of China. He was a talented man on domestic affairs. Before the Battle of Red Cliffs, he predicted that Wu admiral Zhou Yu would use fire on Cao Cao's fleet, but Cao Cao was confident that the winds would make such an attack ineffective. After Cao Cao's disastrous defeat, Cheng Yu was one of the few people who stayed with him during his escape from the battle. He had a son named Cheng Wu.
