City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is a university located in Hong Kong. It was founded in 1984 as City Polytechnic of Hong Kong. It became a fully-accredited university in 1994. By 2009 the student enrollment was about 26,000, with more than 3,000 staff members employed.
More than 140 academic programmes are offered within the following schools and colleges (faculties): Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, Creative Media, Energy and Environment, and Law. Post-graduate studies are offered through the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies, while the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) is an extension of CityU that provides professional practice education. The Community College of City University (CCCU) was established in 2004 for the provision of sub-degree education.
CityU was ranked 124th among the world’s top universities, according to The Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) 2009 survey. The university's campus is located in Kowloon Tong.
