David Sackett (born November 17, 1934) is a Canadian medical doctor and a pioneer in evidence-based medicine.[1][2] He founded the first department of clinical epidemiology in Canada at McMaster University, and the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine [1]. He well known for his textbook Clinical Epidemiology: A Basic Science for Clinical Medicine.

Sackett obtained his medical degree at the University of Illinois, has a Doctor of Science from the University of Bern and a Master of Science in Epidemiology from Harvard University.[3]
