Vicks DayQuil is a medicine designed to help relieve many symptoms of a cold. It is available in liquid and "LiquiCap" (capsule) form. Its nighttime counterpart, which contains a sedative, is NyQuil. DayQuil was introduced in 1974 under the name "DayCare."
As with NyQuil, DayQuil no longer contains pseudoephedrine. It has been replaced with phenylephrine.
Uses
DayQuil is used for the temporary relief of cold and flu symptoms, such as:
- nasal congestion
- sore throat
- headache
- cough
- minor aches and pains
- muscular aches
- fever
Ingredients
DayQuil's active ingredients are: Acetaminophen 325 mg, Dextromethorphan HBr 10 mg, Phenylephrine HCl 5 mg
- Acetaminophen (pain reliever/fever reducer)
- Dextromethorphan (cough suppressant)
- Phenylephrine (nasal decongestant)
It should not be taken by people who drink a lot of alcohol, who are taking other medicines containing acetaminophen, or who are using a prescribed monoamine oxidase inhibitor.
