Delta Omicron (ΔΟ)[1] was founded to create and foster fellowship, to develop character and to arouse and encourage the appreciation of good music and performance among musicians during their student days so that the highest degree of musicianship might be attained individually.

Delta Omicron Foundation, Inc.
The Delta Omicron Foundation, Inc.[2], administers the philanthropies of Delta Omicron, as a separate corporation. It supports and promotes music and musicians through educational grants for music study, composer commissionings, awards for musical accomplishments, subsidies for publications and programs promoting music, and national and international music endeavors. National Patrons & Patronesses
National Patrons or Patronesses: A title conferred upon a musician who has attained a national reputation in his or her field. The title may also be conferred upon a nationally recognized patron of music.
Chapters
About Collegiates
- Collegiate Chapters: chartered in institutions of higher learning and derive their names from the Greek alphabet in the regular sequence according to the date of installation. Each collegiate chapter has:
- a faculty sponsor (who may or may not be a member of the fraternity) and appointed by the school administration of the chapter
- a chapter advisor (selected from the alumni membership)
- a combined alumni faculty sponsor/advisor of the above
- a chapter mother - and may have...
- a chapter patron or patroness (a person interested in music, Delta Omicron and its members)
- International Chapters: collegiate or alumni, are chapters established outside the boundaries of the United States. Collegiate chapters derive their names from the Greek alphabet, prefixed by the letter Kappa. Alumni chapters derive their names by using the name of the nearest collegiate chapter prefixed by the letter Zeta.
- Collegiate Membership: members affiliated with a collegiate chapter (the undergraduate or graduate student is a music major, music minor, or the equivalent of a music minor. Upon initiation, a collegiate member becomes affiliated with the Delta Omicron chapter located in the school where the member is enrolled)
