The South China Sea islands were part of Guangdong Province, and later the Hainan Special Administrative Region, before the relocation of the ROC government to Taipei in 1949. The ROC claims all the South China Sea Islands, but only administers Pratas and Taiping. (Note: the ROC/Taiwan government does not actively claiming the right of other South China Sea islands other than those above.)
