Data current as of January 31, 2013.[1] Note: Composition of parliamentary parties differs slightly; e.g. President (Kenji Hirata, D–Gifu) and Vice President (Masaaki Yamazaki, L–Fukui) of the House of Councillors are formally independents, several independents join other parliamentary groups and the Sunrise Party caucuses with the Liberal Democrats since 2012.
Major parties are abbreviated: D – Democratic Party, L – Liberal Democratic Party, I – Independents. In multi-member prefectural districts Councillors are sorted by number of votes in descending order; for each party in the proportional race, Councillors are sorted by preference votes in descending order.[2]
