Marne Maitland (1916 - 1991) was an Anglo-Indian charactor actor in British films and television programmes.
He made his film debut in Cairo Road (1950), and went onto be type cast as villains from the Far East, particularly in the films of Hammer. These include The Camp on Blood Island (1958); The Stranglers of Bombay (1960); The Terrror of the Tongs (1961); and most memorably as Malay in The Reptile (1965).
Other film roles include Father Brown (1954); Bhowani Junction (1956); Carlton-Browne of the F.O. (1959); I'm Alright Jack (1959); Cleopatra (1963); Lord Jim (1965); Khartoum (1966); Anne of a Thousand Days (1969); and The Man with the Golden Gun (1974).
He made numerous television appearances in programmes such as The Buccaneers; Danger Man; The Avengers; The Saint; The Champions; Department S; and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).
He died in 1991.
