Mike Cavan was a former college football coach. From 1986 to 1991, he served as the head football coach at Valdosta State. From 1992 to 1996, he was the head football coach at East Tennessee State University. From 1997 to 2001, he was the head football coach at SMU, where he compiled a 22-34 record. He was a quarterback at Georgia, and eventually an assistant coach there.
