Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County, also known simply as Newport Harbor, is the replacement show of MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. Just like its predecessor, the show documents the lives of several teenagers living in Newport Beach, California, a beachside community located in Orange County, California that was made popular by FOX's The O.C.. It differs from the usual reality show in that it is structured as a traditional narrative (seen more commonly in fictionalized television dramas or soap operas) than a straightforward observant documentary. This show is officially over and has not filmed since December 12, 2007.

Development
Laguna Beach was initially developed as a documentary of teens living in the wealthy, beachside community of the same name. The series' ratings took massive dip during season three, and the producers considered relocating because no one wanted to cast for the upcoming season in Laguna Beach and wanted MTV to move on. Producers scouted numerous other wealthy Southern California towns such as San Marino, Anaheim Hills, Rancho Santa Fe, and Malibu before finally deciding to base the show in Newport Harbor, an area of the city of Newport Beach.
Season 1
To the likeness of its predecessor, Newport Harbor documents the lives of young people living in Newport Beach and attending Newport Harbor High School. Casting would interview applicants about school, their social life, and any romantic interests in search of a story to document that would be of interest to the target audience. Little did they know that "family life" will also be a major theme throughout its premiere season. Cameras were not invited into the school, but a single camera was taken into formal dances possibly by a cast member and some footage will be used on-aircitation needed. Cameras were not even allowed in at Graduation, something different from Laguna Beach.
Newport Harbor will not steer away from the usual drama of friendly rivalries and love-triangles, but will also include storylines involving family members. Also, Grant, Chrissy, and Clay will be taking new adventures behind the scenes on mtv.com
Home For The Holidays
