The Nightingale Mountains are a mountain range located in western Nevada in the United States. They are almost entirely in Pershing County. The ridge runs north-south for approximately 20 miles.
To the south, Coyote Canyon separates the Nightingale Mountains from the Truckee Range. To the north, Stonehouse Canyon separates them from the Selenite Range. To the west, Winnemucca Lake separates them from the Lake Range. To the east, Sage Hen Wash separates them from the Shawave Mountains.
Only two peaks in the Nightingale Mountains are named on the appropriate USGS maps. These are (in order from north to south) Sage Peak (6584 feet) and Nache Peak (6552 feet).
The site of Nightingale and its large tungsten mine are on the east slope of the ridge, near its southern end. The mine was never profitable and was abandoned following the collapse of tungsten prices in the 1950s. Its tunnels are impressively large compared to those of the older gold mines in the area. The area also has deposits of arsenic and antimony ore some of which were mined briefly during World War I and World War II.
