Daylight saving time

In 2002, the government cabinet decided that "in order to make maximum use of daylight and to save energy", they would adopt the daylight saving time system. This required the country to advance the time by one hour on the night between the first Saturday and Sunday of April, and revert to the original position on the first Sunday in October of 2002 at 00:00.[1]

Pakistan is using DST again from June 1 2008 to September 1 2008[2].

Watches in Pakistan will not be reverted to the country’s normal time, as the daylight saving time has been extended till October 31, 2008. The decision was taken by the Federal Cabinet, said the Federal Minister for Information Sherry Rehman.

The watches were advanced by one hour on June 1, 2008 after the government’s decision to follow the daylight saving time. The time was scheduled to be reverted to the original position on Aug 31, 2008. But the government has decided to keep the watches one-hour advanced for another couple of months till October 31, 2008.[3]
