Persimmon (1893-1908) was a British-bred and British-trained Thoroughbred race horse who won the Epsom Derby in 1896.
As a four-year-old he won the Eclipse Stakes and Ascot Gold Cup, and is the most recent Epsom Derby winner to have won the Ascot Gold Cup. His full brother, Diamond Jubilee won the Triple Crown in 1900.
Persimmon became a successful sire, and amongst his offspring was Sceptre, winner of four classic races in 1902, and Prince Palatine, winner of the Ascot Gold Cup in 1912 and 1913.
