The Pike eel (Muraenesox bagio) is a species of eel found throughout the Indo-Pacific.In Australia it is known from south-western Western Australia, around the tropical north of the country and south to the southern coast of New South Wales.The average Pike eel grows to 1.8 metres in length and is usually active during the day.
Breeding
The females lay the eggs off the coasts of Australia, the eggs take 9-10 weeks to hatch. The females can lay up to 4 million eggs in a single year.
