The President of the University of Florida is the university president of the University of Florida. The University of Florida campus is in Gainesville, Florida; it is the flagship university in the State University System of Florida. Although the institution was historically founded in 1853, it officially became the University of Florida in 1905.[1] The first University faculty member to become president was J. Wayne Reitz in 1955, and to date, the youngest president has been Andrew Sledd, the first president of the University who took office in 1905 at age 35.[2]

The 16th and current president is J. Bernard "Bernie" Machen, who has served since 2003.
