Sodium-hydrogen antiporter 3 or Sodium-hydrogen exchanger 3 (NHE3) is an isoform of sodium-hydrogen antiporters. It is found in the nephron of the kidney and is primarily responsible for maintaining the balance of sodium.[1] [2]

Regulation
Protein kinase C stimulates NHE3, while protein kinase A inhibits it. [3]
There is a specific protein functioning as an NHE3 regulator, sodium-hydrogen antiporter 3 regulator 1.
Classification
It is a solute carrier family 9 (sodium/hydrogen exchanger), member 3
Gene
It is encoded by the gene SLC9A3.
