St. Joseph Medical Center is an acute care, regional medical center in Towson, Maryland. It has 365 acute and 26 transitional beds with over 1,100 physicians and 2,400 nurses and other allied health professionals. It is a part of Catholic Health Initiatives. It has been recognized as one of the nation's top cardiac hospitals with the Solucient 2005 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success award for 6 years in a row. Their Orthopaedic Institute is also nationally recognized as among the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report. St. Joseph is accredited as a comprehensive community hospital cancer institute by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC). They also have a Family Childbirth Center, Sleep Disorders Center, and an Urgent Care Center.
