Numbers of axons in a nerve cross-section: I came here looking for these figures but they're not here -- I've added a sentence with blanks for someone more knowledgeable to fill in. These numbers are very important for people thinking about (1) computer models and (2) nerve reconnections.

Moving after death expansion
I believe this interesting section needs expansion (recorded occurences, etc,) by someone more qualified than myself in the medical field. Bennyboyz3000 05:26, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Propagate via sound not electricity?
[1] This article seems to suggest that it is sound waves, not electrical impulses which are propagating. Can anyone confirm? If so, the discussion around Anatomy/Action potential seems to now be incorrect. Cariaso 22:42, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- The sound waves explanation is likely to be a hoax. At the very least, it's pseudoscience. It's widely accepted that nerve impulses are electrical in nature, to the point where: 1) No textbooks mention the "sound wave theory", 2) Any explanation that posits sound waves as the signal medium is likely a fringe theory held by pseudoscientists. If anyone can come up with a reference for the "sound wave theory", please do. In the meantime, I'm removing all the information about it. Fuzzform (talk) 23:09, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
