The University of Florida College of Fine Arts (CFA) is the academic unit at the University of Florida for the fine arts. In 1975, the College was officially established. The current Dean is Lucinda Lavelli.
Composition
The College is composed of three schools. They are:
- The School of Art and Art History (SA+AH)
- The School of Music
- Director: John A. Duff
- The School of Theatre and Dance
- Director: Kevin Marshall
In addition, the college also contains:
- The Center for the Arts in Healthcare Research & Education (CAHRE)
- The Center for the Arts and Public Policy
- The Center for World Arts
- The Digital Worlds Institute
- UF Performing Arts
- The New World School of the Arts
Facilities
The college holds classes mainly in the Fine Arts buildings, lettered A through D. Music classes are held in the Music Building. There is also a warehouse off-campus located on University Avenue used for shows and as the classroom for the Workshop for Art Research and Practices (WARP), an "Art Bootcamp" for freshmen.
The college also extends in the University Galleries--the Focus Gallery, Grinter Gallery and University Gallery-- The Harn Museum of Art, and has collections in the Architecture and Fine Arts Library, Music Library, Belknap Collection for the Performing Arts (West), Education Library (Norman Hall), and the Visual Resources Center.
The School of Music and the School of Theater and Dance regularly use the University Auditorium for performances. School of Music students may also take a class to ring the carillon in Century Tower.
