Follow these directions to submit an article for creation.
- First- read this page: Wikipedia:Your first article
- Second - check whether the article already exists by searching for it.
- Third - ensure that your topic meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, including ones for:
- Fourth - ensure that your article is verifiable and contains published sources. Without independent sources your article will be declined.
- Finally - click the "Continue" link below.
- Keep in mind that there are a lot of article submissions, and established users may not have time to immediately review your article. Sometimes, due to a large backlog, a submission may not be rejected or accepted for some time.
Quick directions (for more experienced reviewers):
- Pending article requests can be found in Category:Pending Afc requests.
- Pending redirect requests can be found in Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects.
- Reviewing an article:
- Verify that the submission is not a copyright violation and meets applicable notability guidelines.
- If the article looks suitable for Wikipedia:
- Create the article by moving it into mainspace and removing the {{AFC submission}} tag, as well as any AFC related comments or content from earlier, declined submissions.
- Consider adding the new article to categories, and tagging it with appropriate cleanup templates.
- If the article is a stub, add the {{stub}} template, or the appropriate category-specific stub templates.
- Add {{WPAFC}} to the talk page of the new article to flag it as part of the AFC WikiProject. Also add any other Wikiproject banners that would apply to the article.
- Add {{subst:Afc talk|Article Name}} to the talk page user who submitted the article, to inform them that their submission was successful.
- Create the article by moving it into mainspace and removing the {{AFC submission}} tag, as well as any AFC related comments or content from earlier, declined submissions.
- If the article does not look suitable for Wikipedia:
- Change the {{AFC submission}} tag to {{AFC submission|D}}.
- Remove any copyright violations, personal attacks, or patent nonsense from the submission.
- Obvious bad-faith submissions may be tagged for speedy deletion if appropriate.
- Include a decline reason in the submission template ({{AFC submission|D|reason}}). Write a custom reason with {{AFC submission|D|reason|Your reason here}}, or choose from the list of standard messages as described in the template's documentation page.
- Reviewing a redirect:
- If the redirect is appropriate for Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Redirects):
- Create the redirect as you normally would.
- Consider adding a redirect template message to the redirect page, when appropriate.
- Add {{subst:WPAFC}} to the talk page of the redirect to flag it as part of the AFC WikiProject.
- Add {{subst:afc redirect}} to the bottom of the section containing the request.
- Add {{subst:afc a}} to the top of the section, and {{subst:afc b}} to the bottom, below {{subst:afc redirect}}.
- Create the redirect as you normally would.
- If the redirect is not appropriate for Wikipedia:
