Disambiguation pages with links is a WikiProject that patrols the incoming links to disambiguation pages. Disambiguation pages exist to clarify confusion in which two or more similarly named articles exist – for example, if two famous people have the same name. Ideally, Wikipedia articles should not link to disambiguation pages (with rare exceptions in which the ambiguity of a term is being discussed); instead, links should go directly to the appropriate article.

This page lists disambiguation pages that do have incoming links. Most of these need to be fixed. This page functions in cooperation with WikiProject Disambiguation.

How to help

1. Pick a disambiguation page to fix from the list below. (An updated version is at Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links/Current list, but as the latter is generated automatically, comments should not be added to it.)
2. Visit the target disambiguation page.
3. Click on the What links here link in the "toolbox," which is on the left-hand side of the page if you are using the default monobook skin.
4. For each of the pages you see there, visit that page and change the link that goes to the disambiguation page to a link to one of the articles listed on the disambiguation page. The most important things to fix are links from articles in the main namespace and from "Template:" pages transcluded in the main namespace. "User:" and "Wikipedia:" administrative pages do not necessarily need to be fixed, and editing other people's comments on "Talk:" pages without their permission is usually inadvisable per the Talk page guidelines. It's okay for redirects to point to a disambiguation page, but articles pointing to these redirects need to be fixed.
5. Please remember: it is more important to disambiguate correctly than to disambiguate quickly. Make sure you make the best choice; if you're not sure, leave a note on the talk page and let someone who has a better understanding of the subject fix it.
6. Occasionally, links can simply be removed. A term should usually not be linked more than once in one article or section. Also, when the link refers to a general meaning of the word, for which there is no relevant article, removing may be the most sensible option. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links). Take care not to remove useful links, though.
7. If you fix all the main namespace links to that disambiguation page, please move it to the Done section.

9. Some pages have topics which gather links quickly, and so need to be monitored on an ongoing basis. Also, you may have either special knowledge or a special affection for the topic of a particular disambiguation page. For these reasons or any reason, consider adopting a page.

Sometimes, if all or most of the links refer to one meaning of the article name, it may make more sense to redirect the disambiguation page to that article, and perhaps set up a disambiguation block. See Wikipedia:Disambiguation for more details.

It may help to visit the disambiguation page but not the pages it links to, or clear your browser's cache after visiting them. That way, links to the disambiguation page will show up in a different colour (as visited links) and therefore be easier to pick out. Once you become comfortable with the disambiguation process, you may wish to read the Guide to Efficient Disambiguation.

Several automated tools can be used to make disambiguation easier:

• AutoWikiBrowser is capable of mass disambiguation in semi-automatic mode. For more details, see its manual.
• popups: when you move the mouse over a link, it gives a number of options, and if it's a link to a disambiguation page and you have "popupFixDabs=true;" in your monobook.js (or similar file for other skins), then it gives you options to disambiguate the link with a single click.

• Wikipedia Cleaner

The list below shows disambiguation pages in the main English article namespace to which there are the most links. For the purposes of this report, a disambiguation page is considered to be any article using one of the many disambiguation templates. Multiple links from a single article are counted only once. Only links from the main article namespace are counted (that is, pages with "Talk:", "User:", "Wikipedia:" and most other namespace prefixes are ignored).
