There are many new articles that are being created that appeal to a wide audience. Likewise, there are many people with good ideas for new articles that might interest other people but they want to discuss it with others first. This page is for discussing ideas you have about new articles before you create them. It allows you to ask the opinion of others before spending time in creating an article. If you post here, you should explain (briefly) why you think an article is merited (that is, why a subject is notable), and you should provide at least a couple of links (to demonstrate that there are reliable sources for such an article).
Here are other options besides posting to this page:
- If you simply want to suggest a topic for an article without giving any details or sources, go to Wikipedia:Requested articles.
- If you're not a registered editor, and you've written a complete article, you can submit the text of that article at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, for review (and, if acceptable) posting to Wikipedia as new article.
- For questions about general knowledge, please use the Wikipedia:Reference desk
- For questions about how to use Wikipedia, the place to go is Wikipedia:New contributors' help page
- If your idea is directly related to a specific article that already exists, it is probably better to discuss it on that article's talk page, or at the relevant WikiProject (which normally is listed at the top of the article's talk page).
- If you're a registered editor, discussing articles before creating them is optional. If you're ready, be bold and start the page!
- To start a new discussion on this page
- Do not include your e-mail address.
- After you have posted your comment, sign your post by typing four tildes (
~~~~) at the end. The software will automatically convert that into your signature and a time stamp. - In your post, you can ask that you be replied to on your own user talk page, but normally you should check back at this page for responses.
Shape and Structure of our Universe
We have seen objects of various shapes, sizes and structures. For example, we have football which is round in shape. Even earth has a shape of its own which is round. As we move on with this question, we have found that even our galaxy, the milky way is SPIRAL in shape.
Now, the question I wish to put across is What is the shape of our Universe? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Biswaraj123 (talk • contribs) 03:34, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on musicians, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
- Since you don't include any sources above, I can't tell what kind of secondary referencing you have. If you are able to assemble necessary sources, you may choose to create the article yourself, but please be careful. Your name suggests you are closely associated with the subject; our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not create edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. (See our guideline on autobiography for more.) The text you have above is not neutral. It reads like a press release and would almost certainly be immediately deleted for not meeting our basic inclusion guidelines in that the text is entirely promotional. Please see WP:CSD#G11, the deletion criterion related to this, and the guideline on promotion.
- Although I have not done a search, I also have some concerns that the text reads like it might have been duplicated from another source. Just in case this is so, I wanted to add that for legal reasons, Wikipedia can't accept text that is duplicated from other sources unless we have external verification of permission. (See "Requesting copyright permission" for more.) This is true even if you were the original author of the material at the external source. Since we do not require identity verification on account creation, we must verify in this way.
- If you choose to create it yourself, once you have registered, please search Wikipedia first to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. If you have a connection to the subject, as suggested by your user name, you should disclose your relationship at the article's talk page. You may also wish to seek feedback at the conflict of interest noticeboard to ensure that your article is not overly promotional. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:59, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on biographies, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. From what you say above, it seems that it would depend on how important those debates and biking competitions were, how heavily covered by media and where he placed. Since you cite no sources here, it is difficult to determine from the text. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
Million Dollar Baby Society
The society is led by individuals scattered throughout the world ranging from Denmark, France, Los Angeles, New York, Japan, Denver, and etc. With quotes like "Wealth is of the heart & mind, not the pocket" they are driven and determined for stardom, because their belief is they all were put here with purposes.. And a few of them are destined to be Millionaires in which they feel they are the chosen few. For most of them, its not going to be fed to them on a silver spoon, so its up to them to go out and get it. A brand that stands behind their movement is Billionaire boys Club|Ice Cream. They have taken their brand to another level in the South Florida area & continue to do so. The society also plans to begin a clothing line of their own. Their myspace page displays a taste of this: ..Myspace. com/MillionDollarBabySociety.. They've been in 2 magazines in the states and about 5 articles in China's Hip Hop fashion mags. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdbsociety (talk • contribs) 01:58, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
South Australian Curling Association
The SACA, as it is affectionately known was formed over some hastily taken drinks at the Cooper's Alehouse on Fienemann's last day of Uni-term on 15th August 2008. Upon unanimously deciding autonomous powers of presidency to Nick Fienemann, the following team was decided:
Nick Fienemann (President, captain and General)
Adam Tunney (Floor sweeper)
Josh Boden (Drinks Fetcher)
Damien Lynch (Curlographer)
Peter Kennedy (Backup)
This team has by virtue of NO COMPETITION qualified, and thusly successfully won and defended its STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in 2008, and is headed for nationals.
One can donate to the cause by attending Mal's Party (3/9/08), or festivus to be held in Fienemann's pool at a date to be decided soon. Donations of $50, or less, will be gleefully and whistfully laughed at, initially denied and regretfully accepted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stappy (talk • contribs) 12:04, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
