Editor review is a way that users can have their contributions to Wikipedia evaluated by peers, who will provide tips and pointers on areas for improvement. If you are here because your goal is to become an administrator, you should direct yourself to Wikipedia:Admin coaching. Editor review seeks to review your contributions as an editor only, not as an administrator candidate.

Anybody can ask for an editor review, regardless of their tenure at Wikipedia.

When asking for a review, please consider reviewing another editor.
Purge page cache if reviews haven't updated.

Guidelines

Editors are asked to remain civil and assume good faith.

When reviewing, consider:

  • User conduct — informative edit summaries, constructive comments on talk page, any problems indicated on user talk page, etc.
  • Number and types of edits — is the editor doing a lot of the same type of minor edits (if so, why?); is reverting vandalism accompanied by the right level of warnings and by reports to WP:AIV as appropriate; is the editor contributing (constructively, not by rote) to XfDs, etc.

Users with an asterisk next to their name in the subheader have not been reviewed at all yet. Users may still need further reviews even if they do not have an asterisk.

Requesting reviews

If you would like to be reviewed, please follow the steps below:

  • Create a subpage using the box below, replacing "USERNAME" with your own username. NOTE: Please make sure there is no space after your username, as this makes it hard for reviewers to reach your request.

  1. If you have had a previous editor review, don't overwrite it. Instead, repost it (if it was recent and received little feedback), or create a new one appending a number after your username (usually, 2 if it is your second review, 3 if it is the third, etc).
  2. Do not save the new page yet! Replace "STATEMENT" in the edit box at the bottom of the page with a brief message about yourself and why you want to be reviewed. Please note, you must change "USERNAME" TO YOUR OWN USERNAME
  3. Save the page.
  4. Next, answer the questions. Please be specific in your answers.
  5. Add {{Wikipedia:Editor review/USERNAME}} to the top of the list on the Editor Review page.
  6. Then you will be reviewed. Once you are happy with the feedback received, remove your section and archive it.
  7. Optional: you can put the {{Editor review}} template or the {{Editor review sticker}} template on your user page to advertise the review page.
  8. Optional: Please add your editor review page to the archive before you are reviewed. You will still be reviewed, but doing this makes it easier for us.

Archives

Sections with at least one review will be archived at Wikipedia:Editor review/Archives thirty days after they have been created.

NuclearWarfare (talk · contribs) Hi guys. This is my second editor review, and I think I've improved a lot since my first one. Well, of course, that's to be expected. I posted my first ER back in the tail end of June 2008, when I was pretty much a newbie. Now I'm a more experienced editor with ~5000 more edits since then and a much deeper understanding of policy.NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 01:41, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I'd have to say they would be the workups I've given to Avatar season 1 (currently up for FLC and season 2. However, my best work probably comes with my New Page Patrolling (over 800 pages tagged for speedy deletion, according to the difference between the toolserver edit count and the "my preferences" edit count). My work on huggle is also something that I'm proud of. Finally, I've been involved in the Account Creation Process recently, and that's proven to be fun. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 01:50, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have run into just the average run-of-the-mill vandalism, and even some extraordinary multiple-day, multiple-IP, rangeblock-necessitated vandalism. But that hasn't been too bad; I've called up the support of some admins and all was well. I've also gotten into minor debate regarding some Avatar and politics-related articles; my response at all times was to discuss on the talk page (Except for once, where I received a 3rr warning on something that was probably undeserved. But since I had no real stake in that article, I walked away.) NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 01:50, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Twinzor (talk · contribs) I've been on Wikipedia for a while now, and I was wondering how the community sees me. My wish is to some day become an admin, but obviously it's not the time for that yet. I'd still like to know if I'm going in the right direction! So far I've mostly been gnoming and fighting vandalism both on NP and RC patrol, and reporting problem users to AIV. • The vandal fighting will certainly help you become an admin. If you want to become an admin, though, you probably want to try contributing in more areas of Wikipedia. Try contributing to some XFDs. You may also want to increase your contributions of content. Perhaps you could improve an article in one of your fields of interest? Administrator candidates with lots of content contributions always get more votes, so improving an article to GA status or writing some more articles would always be good. Wikipedia can never have enough articles, after all. Bart133 t c @ How's my driving? 23:00, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Well, you look like a good editor that just needs to tighten up on some thing. First of all, the most edits you've made to an article is 6, and when/if you go through WP:RfA, they'll be looking for some dedication within the project, and not getting any FAs/GAs/DYKs/etc. won't help. However, your article The Logical Song (Supertramp) was a good read. Another article that you made, Union Square (Pennsylvania), wasn't as good as there wasn't enough prose in it. Same thing with Cut and run (record label). However, you're on the right track with the second one and I encourage you to expand on that. Your interaction with users with users seem to be very civil be looking at your talk page. However, I notice that a bundle of your User talk: edits are Notification: bla bla bla. For some reason, I think that it implies that you don't engage in conversation as much in the community as much, explaining your question about how the community sees you. However, like I said, your very friendly and civil.(EDIT CONFLICT TEXT FROM HERE) Like Bart said, you should also participate in more WP:XfDs, however, the few AfDs you have participated in seemed to include well-though comments from yourself. You seem like a good editor with great potential, and I encourage you not to do this. ;-) Pie is good (Apple is the best) 23:23, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
  • Note: I'll have to admit that the Logical song and Union Square articles weren't created by me. The first one I split into two articles, one about the song by Supertramp and one about the song by Scooter, and for the second one I simply moved the article to correct a typo in the article name. Also, I hereby promise to never delete the main page. ;) --Twinzor (talk) 23:36, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
It always warms my heart to see a vandalism or spam edit get taken down, and so I'm quite pleased with the work I've done on NP patrol.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have not been in any conflicts, nor have I felt stressed because of other users. I try my best to maintain a cool head and a friendly attitude towards other editors.

I want to do my best and, now that I know about WP:ER, I think it an avenue to help me do so. 1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Lately, I've been trying to make sure that national subdivision flags or coats of arms appear on their appropriate ISO 3166-2 pages along with their official ISO transliterations. I think I've hit on a big important project and that I've done well so far.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes, I have been in conflicts. The longest one was the use of Michael Jackson's nicknames on the introduction to his page. The biggest one was the creation of the article, diaper bag. I keep my mind open to the chance that I'm wrong. I try to be polite as possible. I do my research. I can usually nut it out with the other user, but when we cannot prove our points to one another, I appeal to the most appropriate third party I can find to get a sense of perspective. I initiate cool-down periods. I pay attention when authority has been appealed to.

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I recently created all the templates in Category:Doctor Who serials navbox templates. I also feel myself to have assisted in the fight against vandals.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I was involved in a minor conflict on Doctor Who story chronology with another editor with WP:OWN issues. This however, was not major. In future, I, like I feel everyone should, will try and deal with the situation calmly

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
There are a couple that come to mind, which I'll mention one at a time:
First, I'd have to say I'm rather proud of the article Jueju, which I wrote. Chinese poetry isn't my specialty, but for once having access to good material on a subject without an article, I feel I performed fairly well. The article has good sourcing, references point to specific page numbers, and there is a good level of linking out to other articles related to the subject. I feel like the article could stand significant expansion and improvement, and I've considered contacting the professor whose textbook I was using for source material.
Second, for awhile, I've been adding facts and figures to company infoboxes, especially for publicly traded companies, using Google Finance data. I think the addition of a detailed infobox significantly improves the look of articles on companies.
Third, I'm particularly proud of my addition of SVG forms of various corporate logos in place of raster images when they're available. In particular, the series of articles on Wyndham Worldwide and its subsidiaries.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes, I've had a couple difficult moments in editing. One in particular was Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mustafa Tajouri, where I was frustrated at what I felt other editors' refusal to even acknowledge the guidelines of WP:DIPLOMAT. Another case would be Leet, which I stopped editing because of the frustration I had at that point (though admittedly, it contained some of my first edits). I'd say that in the future, when faced with an edit conflict, of course my approach would vary depending on the situation, but in a conflict with an equally-involved editor in an article that we were both very interested in, I'd make every effort to engage the editor in discussion on the talk page for the article. By doing so, I'd hope to reach an understanding with the other editor. If that didn't work, I'd go somewhere such as WP:EAR or an appropriate noticeboard. I'd do my best to assume good faith.

How do you turn this on

How do you turn this on (talk · contribs) Hi. I just failed (expected) an RfA, and was told it was a good idea to come here for feedback on my editing. Adminship is probably a long way off, but this doesn't put me off editing. I've had a great time so far on Wikipedia. I've written a GA and improved many others. I'd like to get some idea of how to help more "behind the scenes". Thanks. how do you turn this on 22:13, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Editorofthewiki (talk · contribs) Hi Hdytto (if you don't mind me calling you that). I really think you're doing splendid. Writing a GA in your first month of being registered is something not many users (myself included) have done. I have nothing wrong with minor edits (I'm horrible at Diffs) as long asyou balance them with major ones, which you clearly do. I can't believe you have actually reviewed a GA in your short experiance! While I can't judge very well as you have only about 1000 edits, you seem like a pretty civil user to boot. Try to write a WP:DYK and (later) an WP:FA. While I could pretty much care less about edit summaries, you will be badgered at your next RFA for not using them as much as "the community" decides you should. You also stated at your RFA that as an admin, you would be active in the deletion area. I can't say I'm very much active in that area, but I have great respect for those who are. While I can't see if you've had any CSDs as a non admin, in XFDs (which are WP:AFD, WP:MFD, WP:IFD, etc.). In conclusion, you are a net positive to the project, and you only need a bit more experiance before you should try for an RFA. --I'm an Editorofthewikicitation needed 14:44, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Husond (talk contribs blocks protects deletions moves rights) Hello How do you turn this on (did you choose your username after my favorite cheat on Age of Empires?), and thank you for submitting an editor review. I thought I should provide a review after reading what you told SchfiftyThree after his sadly unsuccessful RfA- "I thought your answers were fine". Well, they were not, they were actually a good example of how not to answer RfA questions. If you would like to become an admin, you will have to understand why. So I've decided to join in your review and give some advice. So... first recommendation: edit summaries. Lack of edit summaries can be quite a nuisance, as it prevents other editors from immediately learning what you did on each edit when looking at the page history. Please consider activating the "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" option in your preferences. Now, adminship is not necessarily a long way off, but in order to become an administrator you must be involved in administrative activities. If you just like to edit content, then you do not need the admin tools for your very appreciated contributions. If you would like to be more involved with admin-oriented tasks and eventually become an admin, I recommend:
  • participate in WP:XFD discussions, particularly WP:AFD (watch and learn the arguments users evoke for keeping or deleting something);
  • learn the criteria for speedy deletion, and start patrolling WP:NPP. You may start tagging articles for speedy deletion after having fully grasped the criteria and monitored how other users do;
  • pay a few visits to WP:RFPP in order to understand which requests for protection are to be accepted and which are to be declined;
  • fight vandals! Do it until you've learned the various types of vandalism, sequences of warnings that vandals should be given, and when should they be reported to WP:AIV
  • Always be civil and friendly with other users. Generally, they'll be civil and friendly too and make your Wikipedia experience more enjoyable;
  • check WP:5P and WP:LOP to make sure you're an expert on policies;
  • wait a couple of months between RfAs;
  • keep up the good work! :-)

Those would be my recommendations. Follow them and you should have no problems in becoming an admin soon. But don't let them interfere with the great work you already do on Wikipedia! Feel free to contact me should you need assistance or advice! Regards, Húsönd 22:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

    • Yes, I did name myself for the Cobra car on AOE! :D OK, maybe I missed some things said, but what I read was ok. I'll take your word for it the answers weren't fine.
    • Thanks for the advice re. summaries. I'll check out that feature.
    • I guess i'll consider voting in deletion discussions as well. However, I have already tagged a few pages for deletetion. Maybe I'll do it more often.
    • I'm not particularly interested in "fighting" with people, though I've done some reverting on some articles already. Never reported anyone though. I don't think it interests me as much.
    • I've tried my hardest!
    • Will do!
    • I wasn't considering having another one until someone offered.
    • Thanks!

Without question, my GA, Jeanne Calment.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I had a minor one on the review page of a GA I was reviewing, when the nominator was less than polite towards me. As in my answer on my RfA, I'd either invite others for comment, or walk away if it caused me stress (which it didn't). how do you turn this on 22:15, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
  3. What topics or areas of wikipedia are you most interested in editing? Do these reflect your real life hobbies/studies well?
I like all sorts of things really. I'm very interested in things like conspiracy theories (stuff like aliens, mysterious deaths, government secrets etc). I also love history (particularly Western), linguistics, interesting buildings... that's just off the top of my head. On Wiki, I haven't really contributed to those areas a great deal, but will do with time perhaps. I mostly make minor fixes (such as typo fixing and fixing wiki-links). Easy with out a doubt it is List of documentary films since [1] this revision of the article I have pretty much got it to what is now I have plans to kepp editing it until it is a featured list.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes I have, on the Gordon Ramsay article myself and another user had a difference of opinion whether or not he should be referred to as a Scottish chef or just chef I was pro Chef. After a brief revert war I referred the matter to an admin and the rest is history - this matter is found on the Gordon Ramsay talk page. Other than that I have not had any trouble

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Yeah, it's the little things, like typos, Capital Letters Which Are Completely Unnecessary, correcting links or compressing lists in articles (soundtracks etc). I've created a couple of article too, that was pretty cool.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I only have been in two conflicts. One was quickly resolved, it was about the Body Harvest article, other users backed me up there. The other one was about The Pirates of Dark Water article. That one was a nuisance - another user completely disagreed with me. It didn't stress me out though, disagreeing over one of the two and a half million articles on Wikipedia seems a bit silly. I left the whole lot of it, I'm pretty sure somebody will make the same conclusions as I did.

Looking over contribs here I see some positive contributions to WP:AIV, WP:PUI, and some other image work. To become a more well-rounded editor, I would suggest more content-work on improving the quality of some articles - try getting a couple WP:DYKs and WP:GAs. If this is difficult on your own at first, it might be helpful to seek out support from a relevant WP:WikiProject. Cirt (talk) 08:41, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

That's a part of me which I have to fix but currently I'm proud of my work on getting images to articles, which in times can be hard as it was with Demi Lovato, & other BIO releated articles. I'm trying the best I can with writing articles, but it's a hard area, at least it is for me. --Kanonkas :  Talk  16:13, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

I've had one conflict back in August, 07. You can see it here which I really learned a lot from. It was a mistake of me, at least it was a valuable lesson which got me to think back on how I replied back, I regret how I replied back. Since then I'm trying to be friendly, and understand that anybody can make mistakes when they're new, which I was at the time. Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I'm most pleased with my contributions to the Angel Dust article and how far it's come since I started on it, even though it's still far from what I'd call finished, and quite a few of the other Faith No More related articles. I'm less proud of the discography article I created for them, even though it's now featured, simply because I don't think it should have taken 54 edits to get it were it is. A point which I set out to prove on the DragonForce discography article, which I submitted after a single massive edit[2] (which only subsequently failed due being cut down to below the 10 item minimum during the FLC). I'm also quite pleased with my contribution to the Allegiance and The Premonition album articles, even though all the references to news releases on Firewind's site 404'd after they cleared out everything to make way with their new site. There are other contributions I'm more pleased with than the majority of my edits, but for the sake of refraining from an excessively verbose answer; I'll stop here. — Balthazar (T|C) 04:40, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
There was the issue I had with Undead warrior regarding the colour and standardisation of the black metal bands navigation templates after I changed one or two to the standard {{Navbox Musical artist}} which we reasoned out on our talk pages.
There was also the minor issue I had with Soul Crusher regarding the chronology links on song articles which I posted a (slightly irritated sounding) comment on his(her?) talk page, although since I didn't and haven't changed the edit in question back to how I believed it should be, and since I don't have time to follow his(her?) edits on other article and he(she) has never replied to anything on his(her?) talk page as far as I know, I have no idea if it got acknowledged or even read in the first place. — Balthazar (T|C) 04:40, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

I believe my best contributions are those to various articles regarding Croatia. I have nominated Milan Bandić for good article status and I'm planning to do the same with Šalata and Zagreb in the following weeks. Šalata article also went to DYK today. In Wikipedia space I spend most of my time commenting on various proposals and on WP:PNT.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I became involved in the Indiana Gregg article when I got involved in one side. I mostly restrained myself from doing reverts and additions of material that weren't accepted on the talk page, but I'm not proud of taking sides without a good reason in an article where I have no conflict of interest. I do not take Wikipedia discussions and disputes seriously enough to hold a grudge against an editor or to run amok under pressure. After all, it's not about war, nor a game, Wikipedia is about improving the articles and the project itself and trying to help and persuade editors who do not realize these things. That is essentially the role of an admin.

  • I'll be frank here; I think it is easier for you to seek assistance from an admin participant in the Wikiproject to approve and make changes to the template for you than obtaining the mop yourself. Unless you have intention in working on other admin aspects within Wikipedia. The disputes hurt your chances in obtaining the mop. - Mailer Diablo 18:58, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
    • At least once (pre-protection), I have made a change after testing, and while watching it propagate through categories, realized that I had screwed something up (since I hadn't tested every possibility), and immediately fixed it. This kind of thing doesn't work well through editprotected. --NE2 19:03, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
      • I am of opinion that two pair of eyes are always better than one, and the admin would also have helped ensure changes are error-proof (tell them to if necessary). - Mailer Diablo 19:10, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
        • If I remember correctly, this was an obscure case that would not have been noticed prior to implementation, and took a little while to see because of the time it takes to propagate changes.
        • By the way, I would be doing other admin tasks like correcting any errors I see on the main page, including images with questionable copyright status. --NE2 19:14, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I cannot think of anything recent, since I have not felt compelled to finish my recent projects such as U.S. Route 89 in Utah and Utah Division (D&RGW).
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have had several conflicts and associated dispute resolution (RFC, RFC 2, RFC 3, RFAr). If anything, I think my "jumping around" to different topic areas has been beneficial, since I was able to mostly stay out of the recent edit warring in California. If I find myself getting worked up, I will take a break and work on something else (like my GIS projects). --NE2 14:14, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

ChiragPatnaik (talk · contribs) Hi, I've been lurking on Wikipedia for nearly 5 years now. Though I registered only in 2004. And I have logged in quite infrequently, preferring to instead be an IP editor. However a few weeks ago I started editing more often and under my own username. This was prompted by someone mentioning, that I did not have significant history etc. Anyway. That was brief history of me on Wikipedia. My major interest area is Indian Media. Having being involved in this industry in real life, this interest is but natural. So you'll find me editing in that area most frequently. I also contribute towards tasks like categorisations, cleanups etc. (You'll see lots of contributions using AWB). Recently I've been involved in Lists of basic topics about countries. I hope to contribute significantly there and lastly, I use Huggle every so often for anti-vandalism and anti-spam. I can't tell you how strongly I feel about people abusing volunteer work to push a commercial agenda. Phew... That was a long statement... :) ChiragPatnaik (talk) 09:36, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
My contributions have been quite diffuse and span quite a bit. However, I would like to draw your attention to The Times of India & The Times Group. You'll see a large contribution there. Both related to my former employer. (It may be CoI, but I think I've kept a relatively NPoV). I would also like to draw your attention to Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Geetanjali Shree. The earlier was created as a response to discussion on an AfD on the streets of Manhattan in no time flat from scratch. The latter one gives me especial pleasure as I ran across it as an article needing Wikifying. I kind of fixed it up and then discovered the author author. I got couple of her books right (both in Hindi and the translated one in Englidh). It was, I must say an excellent find.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Well, there were a couple, that are notable. There was one a couple of years back over the Pov of The Times of India. Ironically the Pov was being pushed not by me, but by the other party. Anyway. when it got out of hand, I just walked away. to come back to fix it later. The second was recent, where I was accused of having an agenda in deleting articles. While it is true that I have no compunction in recommending deletions for articles that I feel have no place here or are merely being created to give an ego boost to the person/website/entity in real life. But to say I have an agenda is, quite frankly unfair. Anyway, the issue resolved by both of us backing off. As to how will I resolve it in the future. It depends on how things shape up. I'm quite a conciliatory person in real life (comes from being in a full time job), I expect that this aspect of my personality will tend to diffuse rather than aggravate the situation. Though I would like to get a last word in.

  • You look like a good editor. One red flag that shot up in my face is your little edit summary usage. I did that until this last months, and if you are considering an Rfa later, I would reccomend doing that more. You are one of the striving forces of your area (WA Interstates), though you could improve your admin chances by trying other things. I would reccomend trying out AfDs, they will help you become a much more respected editor. Other than that, you look pretty good. Just remember to try something new, and to use the edit summary tool. Cheers! Meisfunny Gab How was I? 23:01, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I am most proud of Washington State Route 531, which is a GA, List of Interstate and U.S. Highways in Washington, which is currently at FLC, and Interstate 5 in Washington, which I plan to make a WP:GA after a peer review.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have been involved in small conflicts which were quickly ended by me or an Administrator. Most were U.S. road-related, which is where my most contributions go.

  • While reviewing your contributions, I found lots of things I liked. Let's see... we've got you welcoming the newbies, being bold, taking part in discussions, helping out with more newbies (you stole my line by the way; "Happy editing" was my deal. :P ), and it looks like you frequent the help desk. These are all useful things to partake in, so I earnestly enjoyed perusing your contribs. All of your article edits seem really minor (that's not a problem at all; I'm the same way) and it might help if you try really working on article. (Though you have really helped out here which is awesome). In conclusion, I would say you are doing well and you just need to keep on truckin'. Leonard(Bloom) 04:32, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I've never seemed to find one particular area where I have concentrated most of my time. I patrol recent changes a lot and do a lot of vandalism work and speedy deletion work. I imagine this is what I am most pleased with. I have never done a considerable amount of mainspace content edits.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I've had the occasional userspace vandalism ([3], [4], [5]) but I've never had a long conflict with any user.

  • Your contributions seem well-rounded, and probably at a pace that you're finding pretty comfortable with. I noticed that you have attempted to orientate yourself with multiple processes, which is good. Admin coaching is also a great start in understanding the unwritten rules of its processes. Content contribution in areas of your personal interest is a big plus for me personally, and I would not really encourage tagging articles with tags unless necessary, particularly if I could {{sofixit}} on the spot; Wikipedia suffers an awful backlog of cleanup/verify tags that is practically out of control (try working on backlogs if you have plenty of time). Exercise caution when using semi-auto tools, as many unintended misunderstandings are the result of careless errors when utilizing them. If you are running for adminship today, some editors might point out that the pace of editing might be pretty tardy in their standards though. However, I would say that you're making substantial progress in terms of picking up the know-hows, and just continue doing what you always love to do. - Mailer Diablo 15:27, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I pleased with all of my article contributions, but I am most pleased with Cy Young, as I feel I was doing a service for WP:Baseball.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes, I have been in two conflicts. Both of these were when I was new to Wikipedia. One was particularly with User:Lomn. I have patched it up with him, though, and would like to be regarded on my edits.

I think my anti-vandal contributions have been some of my best, but also recently I've been involved with the computing reference desk as I think it gives you quite a lot satisfaction, and its something I'd like to continue with. I've done some minor stuff at Collingwood College, but mainly to keep it NPOV.

A couple, but I've always kept any conflicts civil, and I try always end them well. You can probably see them at my talk page.

  • Given your penchant for being attracted to / attracting drama for drama's sake, no, I don't think you're ready to adopt users. See, for example, this exchange with Metros just a few hours ago. That's a very strong argument against your instructing other newcomers about how Wikipedia works. — Lomn 01:44, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Given Shapiros' comments below, I'd like to clarify: this isn't about "communication skills". I think there's a deep misconception regarding how editors interact in a project-meaningful way. — Lomn 13:48, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Hi, GOW. I think you are a very passionate user, and I really see that in the articles you've been working on. Unfortunately, the passion also goes against you; you tend to get caught up and lose your cool. Before you edit, consider your words, and be patient! Don't be easily angered by others or yourself. I suggest that you wait some more before going to adopt a newcomer. bibliomaniac15 02:25, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Hi, Gears. Let's get this straight. You're fine article writer. You're a fine anti-vandal. You are very, very very passionate about Wikipedia, perhaps too passionate. That's why you have these issues with civility.
  • And, as Lomn said, you need a little work with your communication skills. So, wait a few months before adopting. Shapiros10 contact meMy work 12:50, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm very very proud of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith because I helped premote it after just a few months of experience. Also I proud of my work on Grey Griffins. It's not perfect, but put lots of work into it. Also I'm proud of my fighting aganst vandalism. I'm am also proud of my very dedicaated work I do in WP:VG.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Only one major conflict. About two-3 months ago, I asked for help with simple homework at WT:VG. There, mis-took a comment and cursed out a user. We fought for a long time(2-3 hours) and then I finally gave him his own personal apology and then gave one to the user. Oh yes, but how can I forget about the whole cabal thing. Its along story so I'll cut it short and say me and some other users acted very imaturely.

I have worked on Finders Keepers, my first article; {{AF Cite Book}}, my first major template; and 2006–07 San Jose Sharks season plus WP:SJS.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
No, A few new editors have asked my why I tagged an article for CSD, and why it got deleted. If I got in a conflict, first I would talk it out with them, and if we could not reach an agreement, then ask other editors to help out.

  • Hello, I'm Toon, I've not done that many of these, so don't count this as official or anything, it's basically just my opinion and observations. First of all, when looking at your edit count breakdown with the below tool, a massive red flag is your edit summary usage. It looks like at least half of your edits haven't been accompanies with summaries. This is something that is picked up on at RfAs especially (although that is a long way off yet), and you should aim to put a summary on 100% of edits. You can get wikipedia to remind you in the preferences somewhere. I can see that you are looking to become an admin, and, echoing the comments at User:Meisfunny/Admin, I would urge you to wait at least 4 or 5 months, preferably longer. In that time, pick some articles to get up to Good Article, Featured Article or Featured List status - after all, the whole purpose of this project is to build an encyclopaedia, and users who don't contribute large amounts to the mainspace have far less chance of becoming admins - you need to prove a commitment to content contribution. Try to get your number of mainspace edits up to half of your total edits, by editing articles more and your user page/subpage less. You seem to be in a couple of Wikiprojects, so that shouldn't be too hard. You should think about contributing to the so-called behind the scenes work, in wikipedia namespace; e.g. AfDs, WP:SCV, and take part in RfAs too, as this will give you more of an idea of what the community expects in Admins. Try to get experience in key policy areas: WP:N and the sub-categories; the core policies (can you name them?) etc.. So yes, basically, more mainspace contributions, getting an FA is a massive plus, more wikipedia contributions (it aint glamourous, but someone's gotta do it), and have a look at RfAs regularly. Hope this helps! If you have any questions, just give me a message. - Toon05 17:25, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Ah... the wonderful 1000... I remember mine... Moving on, though I'm probably going to echo Toon a lot. Hope 'ya don't mind. First off, lemme say you look like a wonderful editor. Some of your contributions were really good looking; of course though, you have very few mainspace edits. As Toon said, we are here to build an encyclopedia. Also as said above, you're gonna need a little bit more time before an RfA. Assuming you want to be an admin eventually, I suggest you take Toon's advice. If you don't then I would still suggest you expand a bit. AfDs are fun, and really help teach some of the crux of Wikipedia's policies. Leonard(Bloom) 04:42, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I find it hard that any editor would want to make an edit that they aren't at least somewhat satisfied with, but I think I did a good job doing the 2008 Indy 500 results table, (under my ip, more after I created an account) and putting in most driver information. I never have really made any committment to any long-term project or an area of editing, although I spend most of my time currently tweaking Nike SPARQ, which I created, tweaking WikiProject Seattle Mariners, which I created, doing RC Patrol, and editing IndyCar Series articles. I am also trying to make a cool userpage, so I have about 500 edits there, but I do have a lot of subpages. Overall, I think the WikiProject is my best.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I haven't been in any major conflicts over editing, although once when editing under an ip, I gave another IP a warning, and they were, let's just say, not happy. They vandalized my talk a couple times and crossed out all warnings on their talk. In the future, I would likely remove the <s> tag they placed and return all warnings they removed from the page, but that's about as far as I'd go, since they stopped vandalizing, and are basically "retired". You can see what the IP did here
