Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below.
- If you want to show off your work, use the talk page.
- Category mergers should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- For a complete list of articles with current merger proposals, please see Category:Articles to be merged.
- If you need help with renaming or moving, consult Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page.
- For guidance on merging, consult the Integration WikiProject.

October 2008
- Merge Alibi (TV Channel) to Alibi (TV channel). They are almost identical. -- Eastmain (talk) 02:43, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Merge both Child carrier and Stroller history to Baby transport. The former article rather briefly discusses a particular form of baby transport, while the latter is a poor article on the history of a specific type of baby transport. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 15:17, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Merge American Public Gas Association and Apga. They are completely identical articles as far as I can tell. --Hippie Metalhead (talk) 17:50, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Merge List of countries by number of total troops with List of countries by number of active troops. There is no need for having to seperate articles on practically the same thing. There should be a list of countries by total troops only with mentioning at each country how many of it's troops are currently active. -The Bold Guy- (talk) 13:39, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Merge List of awards and nominations received by Bloc Party and Bloc Party, as list does not seem to have many notable achievements which could not be included in main article.--SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 00:47, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Amoebic meningitis and Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis, as the former is a stub with very little information, whereas the latter is a closely related, more detailed subject; slight modifications to the introduction could allow one page to fairly treat both conditions. -- Jeyradan (talk) 08:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
September 2008
- Merge MSN Messenger into Windows Live Messenger. Reasons at Talk:Windows Live Messenger#Merger proposal. --Samvscat (talk) 07:17, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge IMAX Corporation into IMAX. A separate article for the corporation is (usually) not necessary when the corporation's name is the same as the name product or service. For example, McDonald's Corporation redirects to McDonald's. Not much can be said about the corporation that wouldn't fit in the article for the product itself. –Dream out loud (talk) 17:29, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Wilderness Diarrhea into Travelers Diarrhea. Innumerable published articles demonstrate that these topics are widely discussed separately. Several editors disagree and seek to trim and merge Wilderness Diarrhea.Calamitybrook (talk) 21:17, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Shockvertising and Shock advertising. They appear to be on the exact same topic just with different names. Shock advertising was listed as an orphaned in the Orphaned catagory and I started to find incoming links for it only to find that there was another article that had significantly more links and exposure. --Hippie Metalhead (talk) 20:28, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Samurang into Haidong Gumdo. Samurang is based on a fringe theory mostly purported by associations or individuals associated with Haidong Gumdo, and reliable sources on the subject is virtually non-existent. Cydevil38 (talk) 06:44, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Sud-Est, Sud-Ouest, Sud Aviation and Nord Aviation into Aérospatiale. All articles are currently stubs with the "Sud" company articles containing duplicate history information. Additional justification based on Wikipedia:Companies, corporations and economic information, created by WP:COMPANIES. --Born2flie (talk) 17:47, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Human urine into Urine. The two articles are almost identical. WWGB (talk) 12:56, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Anwar Ibrahim (politician) into Anwar Ibrahim. Currently Anwar Ibrahim redirects to Anwar Ibrahim (politician), but since no other notable people also named "Anwar Ibrahim", thus Anwar Ibrahim should be favoured instead of Anwar Ibrahim (politician). --אדמוןד ואודס自分の投稿記録 17:59, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails and Dead Planet. Though released nearly a year apart and with different track listings, they are the same album. Red157(talk • contribs) 16:59, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge List of Bloc Party awards and Bloc Party, as list does not have many notable achievements which could not be included in main article. --SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 19:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Free and open source software should be merged into Open source software because they are about the same topic, but the latter is considerably longer (21:48:42UTC September 5, 2008 CE). -- GOD ACRONYM (talk)
- 'Euro Space Centre' and 'Euro Space Center' are about the same thing -- Xofc (talk) 17:47, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- The Ivan Milat and Backpacker Murders should be merged because they are about the same topic. Other serial killer articles I've read on Wikipedia refer to the nicknames of the cases but don't have separate articles for them unless there were multiple perpetrators. --*momoricks* (talk) 11:42, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Clone Wars Adventures Volume 1, Clone Wars Adventures Volume 2, Clone Wars Adventures Volume 3, Clone Wars Adventures Volume 4, Clone Wars Adventures Volume 5, Clone Wars Adventures Volume 6, Clone Wars Adventures Volume 7 into Clone Wars Adventures. I does not seem necessary to have an article on each volume of a comic book, since it doesn't appear to happen for other comics. 70.51.9.124 (talk) 15:00, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- MEncoder is an unmaintained subproject of MPlayer and probably doesn't warrant its own article.
- The William Burke and William Hare (murderer) articles should be merged into the Burke and Hare murders article. Each article about the men has a small amount of biographical information with the bulk of the articles discussing the murders.*momoricks* (talk) 11:22, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Yang Zhiya and Yang Xinhai—they are about the same person. *momoricks* (talk) 03:14, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Merge completed on September 13, 2008 --*momoricks* (talk) 08:48, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge the newly created article of ZeiraCorp with it's parent article - the new Terminator series NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 00:58, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- I've never merged a page before so I'm hoping to get some kind of feedback before completing the merge. I just rewrote the Shen Changyin and Shen Changping articles, which ended up being identical because all the sources discuss the brothers perpetrating their crimes together. *momoricks* (talk) 11:06, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
Merge completed on September 15, 2008 *momoricks* (talk) 09:05, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- Would some mind weighing the consensus and closing the merge discussion regarding Attack dog? The discussion has been inactive for 10 days. I would go ahead and close it myself but being the original author of the article and a participant in the discussion I have a large COI there. Thanks, ~ AmeIiorate U T C @ 07:11, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- My request is for Norma (female name) to merge into Norman (name) via whatever editors may wanna merge Norma into Norman, 'cause my Norma sections may require information which is hard to get into Wikipedia, you know. Neurotic heart (talk) 22:29, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge British Australian Rules Football League into AFL Britain, almost identical articles. WWGB (talk) 13:26, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Keyser Söze into The Usual Suspects. At the end of the day, the standalone character article is an OR lovefest while the film article lacks the sourced content. Viriditas (talk) 03:12, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- I just merged asphalt concrete and tarmac into asphalt but not sure how to prevent double redirects (not sure where "what links here?" is found), also considering merging concrete into asphalt as well, seem wise? Mrqwerty987 (talk) 22:58, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- EDIT: Have now merged pavement and concrete into asphalt as well Mrqwerty987 (talk) 23:03, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- EDIT2: Have also merged Sidewalk into asphalt. Mrqwerty987 (talk) 23:06, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Agrh, disregard, someone insisted on reverting me >_<
- EDIT2: Have also merged Sidewalk into asphalt. Mrqwerty987 (talk) 23:06, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- This merger does not make sense. Concrete and asphalt are completely different building materials. caknuck ° is geared up for football season 01:46, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

- Merge Korean swordsmanship into Kumdo. Talk at Talk:Kumdo#Merger proposal. They deal with almost the same things and even share some sentences in common.--Michael Friedrich (talk) 05:05, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge The Whitechapel Murders (1888-91) into Jack the Ripper. Talk at Talk:Jack the Ripper#Merge The Whitechapel Murders (1888-91). Editors seek to separate the Jack the Ripper media construct from the factual crimes. I maintain this is impractical and the second article currently just duplicates parts of the main one. jnestorius(talk) 07:18, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge SNUPY Awards, Sawyer Center, and Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm into Southern Nazarene University. The first two aren't likely notable enough to warrant their own articles, nor are they long enough or even sourced articles (the third point contributing to the first and would probably affect the second if properly addressed). Please weigh in! Aepoutre (talk) 15:17, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Aggressive grinds into Grinds (skateboarding).WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:09, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Merge J/22 and J22 (sailboat). Looks like the same Boatsclass. --Jutta234 (talk) 18:17, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Press cake and Oil cake seem to be about the same products - Quistnix (talk) 11:54, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
August 2008
- Merge Tai Situpa and Pema Tönyö Nyinje since both articles are essentially about one and the same living person. I suggest merging the former article into the latter since "Tai Situ" or "Tai Situpa" is simply a title of rank or respect which was applied to several different lines of Tibetan incarnations or Tulku. If the article is going to be about this whole line of incarnations it should probably be called something like "Palpung Tai Situpas" to distinguish from other lines also called "Tai Situpa". See my comment at Talk:Tai_Situpa. Chris Fynn (talk) 05:27, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Galactic Warlord, Deathwing Over Veynaa, Day of the Starwind, Planet of the Warlord and Young Legionary into a single unified article about the enitire Last Legionary series by Douglas Hill.
- Merge List of mass murderers and spree killers by number of victims into List of events named massacres. These two pages address related subjects that have a large overlap. Massacre events (including multiple location massacre events) and the number of victims resulting from those events can both be explained in a single article on "List of events named massacres". ().-- Suntag (talk) 17:40, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Conservative talk into Talk radio. "Conservative talk", IMO, has an NPOV issue, and it seems that it would be better to roll the new information into the existing thorough US-political-talk-radio section.
- Merge Cereal#Global market into 2007–2008 world food price crisis. The section of the "Cereal" article is only peripherally relevant to cereal; it's about the "Food price crisis" instead, and should, IMO, be in that article. Tevildo (talk) 10:44, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Putrajaya Independence Square into Putra Square. Currently "Putra Square" is redirecting to "Putrajaya Independence Square", but I think "Putra Square" should be the appropriate one, because I've passed by the place and found that it's called "Dataran Putra" in Malay, which is "Putra Square" in English. Instead of requesting a move, I'm requesting a merger because I found that both pages have meaningful edits and all these edits should be combined. --אדמוןד ואודס自分の投稿記録 07:45, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge {{Infobox TV channel}}, {{Infobox Radio station}}, {{Infobox Broadcast}} and {{Infobox Broadcasting network}}. Their functions are mostly overlapped, despite their own aims. Click here to discuss. -- JSH-alive (talk)(cntrbtns)(mail me) 15:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge {{Infobox Korean film}} into {{Infobox Film}}. Except for the display of Korean name and its Romanization, and a link to the KMDB profile, Infobox Korean film has no distinctive feature. Click here to discuss. -- JSH-alive (talk)(cntrbtns)(mail me) 15:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge {{Infobox Korean company}} into {{Infobox Company}}. Except for the dsplay of Korean name and its Romanization, Infobox Korean company has no distinctive feature. Click here to discuss. -- JSH-alive (talk)(cntrbtns)(mail me) 15:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge TIB (file format) to Acronis True Image; file format with little to no notability independent of the application. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 01:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge WGVL into WQOK (AM) because one is about the radio station that exists now, and the other is about the radio station that used to occupy the 1440 frequency in the same city. Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:35, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge HD 188753 Ab into HD 188753 since the extrasolar planet in question is no longer thought to exist and is in fact unsupported by the data contained in the discovery paper. 86.171.72.213 (talk) 17:23, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Muli (India) with Surendranagar as the former contains a very small amount of information about a town within the latter.
- Merge Instant center into Roll center since content of first is all about content of second article. --VanBurenen (talk) 13:56, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Solved. --VanBurenen (talk) 21:47, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Rule of Two into Sith. The Rule of Two is a ficitonal pedagogical principle with no relevance outside of the Star Wars Sith and is a badly written article in any case.67.159.78.196 (talk) 18:48, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Gaelic medium unit into Gaelic medium education. I don't see a need for a seprate article for somthing which can be included on Gaelic medium education page. (MacSteaphain (talk) 16:49, 15 August 2008 (UTC))
- Merge PbNation into Paintball. PbNation is just a forum and a vendor of paintball gear, it does not belong to WP:COMPANIES Discuss here --Itemirus (talk) 08:04, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Wikipedia:Tag team to Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. Discuss here. "Tag teams" are the same as meatpuppets, so merge the content and redirect Wikipedia:Tag team to WP:MEAT. Alun (talk) 11:49, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Ticket controller (transportation) to Proof-of-payment. The former subject is a form of the latter, and lacks significant coverage and sourcing. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 05:44, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Leon Phelps to The Ladies Man (2000 film); non-notable fictional character, with the film being his most significant appearance. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 22:01, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge both Apeface and Snapdragon (Transformers) into Horrorcons. The first two articles, about the two Horrorcons individually, are fairly short and overlap in a great deal. The Horrorcons article is minimal. These could very well be served with only a Horrorcons article which would provide descriptions about both Apeface and Snapdragon and a single description of their cartoon and comic appearances. JIP | Talk 11:40, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Wikipedia:Village pump (assistance) into Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests. --WikiWes77 (talk) 03:34, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Page has already been merged into Wikipedia:Help desk. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 00:48, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Link Belt, Pennsylvania into Link Belt (SEPTA station) - Despite a few geographic discrepancies, the Link Belt, PA article appears to be describing the SEPTA station, which already has an article. ----DanTD (talk) 14:44, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Cross-post with Crossposting - two articles on the same topic (the latter is older and better developed, so the former should probably be merged there). Terraxos (talk) 05:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Hodges meteorite into Sylacauga (meteorite) - undo fork by Basilicofresco (10:34, 17 June 2008 (UTC)) - because the Hodges meteorite is simply a fragment of Sylacauga. The fork has created two small articles (one actually a stub) where one would suffice. The scientific and culture/history information could easily exist in one article under two headings. Redirect applicable, of course. Syncopate (talk) 22:31, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Kristi Yamaoka with Cheerleading#Dangers of cheerleading because she is notable for having the event happen to her, and her "bio" article reflects this, having only three lines about her personally in it, and three sections on "the fall". MSJapan (talk) 18:21, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Railtown 1897 State Historic Park into Railtown 1897 and rename as Railtown 1897 State Historic Park. Same location, written with two different names. ----DanTD (talk) 13:04, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge BRIC and BRIMC because BRIMC is simply an extension of BRIC, so it is better placed in a section of BRIC then on it's own page. Saru (talk) 01:44, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Xesko into Francisco Santos. Only one article should exist per notable person, even if the person is notable for more than one thing. --Evb-wiki (talk) 18:40, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
July 2008
- Merge Erech into Uruk. Same city, same historical information. Erech is just a Biblical reference to Uruk, and the Erech infiormation is single source, non-referenced.
Merge Wikipedia:Village pump (assistance) with Wikipedia:Help desk, which serves basically the same purpose.--WikiWes77 (talk) 18:00, 29 July 2008 (UTC)- It appears that there is concensus on Help desk talk --WikiWes77 (talk) 20:26, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Computer crime, Cybercrime and Internet crime, articles have alot of overlap and i believe it would be best to have a single article. The discussion at Talk:Computer crime#Merge seems to be stalled and i think there needs to be more input especially a decision on which title to keep. --neon white talk 14:18, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge audioblogging into podcast, the terms are very similar and the difference isn't major enough for the former to have an article. The former may not be notable in its own right, either. Computerjoe's talk 22:48, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Octagon House into Octagon House (disambiguation) in order to reunite Octagon House (disambiguation) with its Revision History which is at Octagon House. An editor has to do this. clariosophic (talk) 12:13, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Viacom Enterprises into Viacom (1971-2005) as the Viacom Enterprises article is basically a re-telling of the Viacom (1971-2005) article. Also, I really don't see the need for users replacing the Viacom (1971-2005) article with the Viacom Enterprises article, as seen in such pages as the Perry Mason (TV series) article. The Green Lantern (talk) 03:04, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Glasses (song) into McCartney (album) because that article is very short. Although already tagged, I will again mention this here. --Gh87 (talk) 20:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Don't Cross the River into Homecoming (album) because that article is very short. Although it is tagged already, I will mention this here. --Gh87 (talk) 20:34, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Mechanics of materials with Strength of materials reason being the article is quiet similar with not major changes in the same. Kalivd (talk) 07:31, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Ridwan and Rizwan as these represent only variant transliterations of the same name. Perhaps Ridwan needs to be renamed Ridwan (angel), or perhaps Rizwan needs to be renamed Rizwan (disambiguation). Whatever the solution, the disambiguation page should link to the article about the angel as well as to articles with Redouan, Redouane, Ridwan, Rizvan and Rizwan in their titles (all variant transliterations). I’m not exactly sure how to go about this. Elyaqim (talk) 10:46, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Winter waterspout into Waterspout : Althought winter waterspout are very rare, exept for the season, they physically are produce the same way as any waterspout : strong low level instability. So I don't see the need for a separate article and this article should be integrated as a section into waterspout. Pierre cb (talk) 02:54, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Done As no opposition has been voiced Pierre cb (talk) 15:11, 21 July 2008 (UTC) - Merge Eastern Settlement and Gardar, Greenland, unless i'm mistaken it's the same thing. Don't know which title is better. Discuss here. --Raminagrobis fr (talk) 18:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

- Merge Crown Dependency of Forvik with Forewick Holm, the island upon which the former "micronation" is based. Ben MacDuiTalk/Walk 18:31, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Oceania (Nineteen Eighty-Four), Eurasia (Nineteen Eighty-Four) and Eastasia (Nineteen Eighty-Four) into a single "Nations of 1984" or other some-such article. Nutiketaiel (talk) 18:50, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

- But there is no explanation at the discussion points that explains what the proposals are and what your reasons for the proposed merges are. You have pointed to old, different merge discussions, or to pages with no section set up for discussion with your rationale. As it is now, I don't see how people will understand what you are proposing or be able to discuss it, so unless more is added I don't anticipate there will be discussion. A situation where there is no discussion likely doesn't mean there is consensus for or against the proposal - it means they need more information to be able to discuss. Tvoz/talk 00:46, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Re merges involving Dunhams or Soetoros: what's being proposed basically is for these less-notable Dunham–Soetoro family members to be listed together in a new, single article. This can start as a list of the two families' members with each member covered in a sub-section. This would simply involve transferring each article to the new compound article. The article could be left this way, along with a short introduction for the whole article added; or at some point somebody could write a comprehensive introductory narrative that weaves in the histories of all the constituent members, concluding with a final section where all members, spouses and children are grouped together in a list.
Justmeherenow ( ) 10:54, 12 July 2008 (UTC) On second thought, such a "Wikimacropedic" venture ("organizing stuff according to topic"----as opposed to the more "Wikimicropedic" one of the status quo of there being all bite-size pieces that are alphabetically organized), when applied to an electronic encyclopedia, is maybe as pointless or as cosmetic of a change as rearranging deck chairs on an ocean liner.

- Re Kenyan Obama merges: what's being proposed is to merge the articles for Barack Obama, Sr., Sarah Obama, and Malik Abongo Obama into a single article. It would be similar to the one I've proposed just above for the Dunham-Soetoro families members.

- Merge Al-Qaeda in Iraq and Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad. The latter article states that it "gradually became popularly known as al-Qaeda in Iraq", and both articles assert that their subjects are led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi; i.e. they are the same organization.-Samuel Tan 07:12, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Merge Jeremy Stangroom and Ophelia Benson and Butterflies and Wheels and The Dictionary of Fashionable Nonsense: A Guide for Edgy People and The Philosopher's Magazine.
All of these pages have been challenged over notability and defended, albeit at times, I would say, unpleasently and abusively by obviously partisan editors, possibly sockpuppeteers. The pages seem to be linked via the edits of one Nick Mallory. They also appear to 'spin off' from Stangroom, Benson and Baggini's magazine, the Philosopher's Magazine, of which its own notability (although greater) is also questionable. The links for Stangroom's and Benson's site are uncheckable - I suggest that an unfollowable link should not be used to justify a page's existence as on the Butterflies and Wheels page. The link was also misdescribed as being to the Independent (daily newspaper in London) whereas apparently it was to a student advertsing supplement published by the Independent group. There are serious weaknesses in the sources being used on the Ophelia Benson page. That TLS review does not exist online, and there must therefore be doubts that is it ever was as described. Publishing books should not be a sufficient criterion for 'notability' as claimed during the Benson 'notability' review. In the UK alone, there are over 100 000 new books a year! It is true that there are 'some public references' of some sort for the books and so on, and hence I suggest a more sensible compromise would be to lump all the pages under one heading. I don't say what it should be but the obvious choice is to use the existing Philosopher's Magazine page as the start, and then detail both Benson and Stangroom's work under it - and perhaps at this point it would make good logical sense to add Julian Baggini's existing page in too. However, as I see the page is protected at the moment, I willnot try to make it part of this more modest proposal! The aim is to make better sense of the presently rather scattered contributions of the editors, while protecting the integrity of the Encyclopedia . Wikisquirrels (talk) 11:39, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
