This is the place to request sockpuppet checks and other investigations requiring access to the Checkuser privilege. Checkuser is a last resort for difficult cases. Whenever possible, use other methods first. Possible alternatives are listed below.

General procedure

  • If submitting a new case subpage, use the inputbox below; if adding to an existing case subpage, see WP:RFCU/P#Repeat requests.
  • Choose one code letter that best fits your request. Provide evidence such as diff links as required or requested. Note that some code letters inherently require specific evidence.
  • When listing suspected accounts or IP addresses, use the {{checkuser}} or {{checkip}} templates. Please do not use this template in a section header.
  • Sign your request.

After submitting a request

  • Responses will be brief in order to comply with Wikipedia's privacy policy.
  • Due to technical factors, results are not always clear.
  • Check back regularly to see the outcome of your request.
  • Checkusers and clerks do not generally issue blocks. You may need to do this yourself or submit a request at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
  • Case subpages are typically archived several days after a checkuser responds.

  • Supporting evidence: The IPs are located far apart, so the 2 registered editors may each be using the respective ips as sockpuppets to revert, attack, etc.

In addition, today User:Ronosen made a personal attack at Talk:Keshub_Chunder_Sen, along with revealing an editor's personal information. It was oversighted, so there is no diff. All the accounts have been making almost entirely disruptive edits, so there are likely plenty of other grounds to block. Thanks,priyanath talk 00:21, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Comment - At least one of them 195.178.107.95 (talk · contribs), is an open proxy that has since been blocked. --Ragib (talk) 00:56, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
IP blocked - Ronosen (talk · contribs) is exclusively using open proxies, all of which are blocked now. Also blocked Ronosen.
Worklikeadog (talk · contribs) is Likely to be the same editor, and also uses open proxies. Basically, all of the above IPs are open proxies.

The User:Gayatrisavitr account was created hours after User:Ronosen and his open proxies were blocked. User:Gayatrisavitr is focusing on the same article, same POV, and immediately attacked User:P.K.Niyogi with off-wiki evidence (dif) that forced User:P.K.Niyogi to retire (much like User:Ronosen's now oversighted attempts to expose the real-life identity of an admin). For that alone he should be blocked, or for being a SPA with a pattern of disruptive edits. Too many choices....

Jacurek


  • Supporting evidence:It is highly probable that User:Jacurek is revert warring and evading his 4 month block for socking, block evasion and disruption [12] as IP 154.20.146.225 and IP 70.79.12.228 at History of Jews in Poland[13]. Besides the same pattern of editing, most convincing evidence that IP 154.20.146.225 and Jacurek is the same editor is here: Jacurek forgets to sign his post at talk page [14], IP 154.20.146.225 comes to sign it minutes later [15], and vice versa edit by IP 154.20.146.225[16] signed minutes later by Jacurek [17]. IP 70.79.12.228 displays the same pattern of editing and is coming from the same area as IP 154.20.146.225. Editor Jacurek was blocked for socking and block evasion before (see User:Cvc42) and IP 70.79.12.228 continues reverting the same articles with similar edit summaries as sock Cvc42 did: please compare [18] and [19] --- M0RD00R (talk) 08:54, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Shine a lite

  • Supporting evidence: There is quite an issue with meatpuppetry at Lyme disease; an advocacy group has been coordinating efforts to advance their agenda in the article (see this AN/I thread, for example). The above are accounts which have been used in the last month or so to solely to advance this agenda. Some are blocked (e.g. Shine a lite). I suspect these are mostly meatpuppets, based on the off-wiki recruiting, but would like to ask a checkuser to see if any of the accounts are technically matched as out-and-out socks - for example, the new account Roohub echoes the blocked user Foundinkualalumpur fairly closely. Saffi2k7

  • Supporting evidence: User:Saffi2k7, a user since February 2008, has been warned on various occasions (see talk page warnings) for copyvios, specifically the copying of entire NFL player biographies from websites for their respective articles, as was the case here and here, just as some examples. At 01:33 7 July 2008, he was warned again by Chrisjnelson for this activity, and Chrisjnelson went on to revert the most recent copyvios on a number of pages. The account Shequan2 was created on 01:30 8 July 2008, and has yet to edit, but at 01:42 8 July 2008, this account created another account (according to the user creation log), by the name of Harrimanning. At 01:46 8 July 2008, Harrimanning edited Saffi2k7s's talk page, saying "yOU SON OF A bLATCHE, YOU COPIED AND PASTED ALL OF THAT CAREER STUFF FROM THE COLTS SITE AND POSTED IT. you should be punished," leading me to believe that Harrimanning is a sock puppet of Saffi2k7 mocking Chrisjnelson's copyvio warning issued to Saffi2k7 for his edits on Antoine Bethea (the first example above). Harrimanning, at 01:50 8 July 2008, then went to Chrisjnelson's talk page and insulted Saffi2k7 for his copyvios, which again I believe is actually Saffi2k7 insulting himself to mock Chrisjnelson's block. Saffi2k7 has since asked who that user "was" who made those edits. Pats1 T/C 02:38, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Sima-azad

  • Supporting evidence: Sima-azad/Noriziba and his sockpuppets were banned back in March. The banning was probably related to various BLP violations on articles. He continued to edit one of his favorite articles, Alireza Jafarzadeh, after he was banned. His sockpuppets and IPs stick out in the history of that article as all of them have the distinct pattern of signing their name (~~~~) in their edit summaries ([24], [25], [26],
