Policy --- You may request removal of a page revision for these reasons:

  1. Removal of nonpublic personal information such as phone numbers, home addresses, workplaces or identities of pseudonymous or anonymous individuals who have not made their identity public.
  2. Removal of potentially libelous information when the subject has specifically asked for the information to be expunged from the history, the case is clear, and there is no editorial reason to keep the revision.

Additionally, there are other cases where the Wikimedia Foundation may request removal of revisions.

If none of the above conditions have been satisfied, please be aware that the revision will not be hidden from administrator-view, though it may be deleted by any administrator.

The amount of time before an oversight request is processed is usually within minutes, although this may vary.

Procedure for those familiar with Wikipedia (takes less time)

  1. Click one of the two email links below and supply the "diff" of the revision which needs removal.
  2. If you are an administrator, you may wish to delete that particular revision. Although this is not mandatory, the deletion does remove the revision until it can be oversighted. If you delete the revision, please provide its timestamp in your request since diffs do not work for deleted revisions. The timestamp for each deleted revision can be found in Special:Undelete.
  3. Click "Send"

Procedure for those not familiar with Wikipedia (takes slightly more time)

  1. You may report the disclosure of personal information at any time, you do not need to be "involved".
  2. Please supply the entire URL of the page which contains the personal information.
  3. Please also supply a description of the information which needs removal, and an explanation of why it needs to be removed.
  4. Click "Send"
