Articles lacking citations

Current requirements are that all articles, particularly FAs, should have inline citations. The following medical featured articles are lacking in inline citations - they will eventually come up on WP:FAR if not cited - perhaps the original nominators/editors can be enlisted to help bring to standard:

Articles for review

Chagas disease

I've cleaned up what citations were there to provide for inline cites, and done some rearranging to conform to WP:GTL and WP:MEDMOS, but the article needs more work. Lacking inline citations (less than half of the article is cited), does not conform with WP:MEDMOS (for example, History need not be at the top of the article), and the Prognosis section is written in medical jargon, needs a copy edit, and is hard to understand. Basic info on the prognosis isn't given. Sandy 13:41, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Finished FAR

Action potential (kept)

I would appreciate commentary and critique on whether the current action potential article is worthy to be a Featured Article. It's a long article, I know, but please read through it and vote your conscience, Keep or Remove, at its FAR. If you don't like it, then let me know what needs to be fixed! Wikipedia:Featured article review/Action potential/archive1, Restored April 2008. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:47, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Asperger syndrome (kept)

Third time through: Wikipedia:Featured article review/Asperger syndrome/archive2 SandyGeorgia (Talk) 12:02, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Featured article review/Asperger syndrome/archive1, assistance with cleanup or participation in FAR would be helpful. Sandy 04:18, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Asperger syndrome has moved from Major Review to FARC (Feature Article Removal Candidate). There is still a two-week period during which you may vote to keep or remove, or work on improving the article. See Wikipedia:Featured article review/Asperger syndrome/archive1. Sandy 17:16, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

It meets every FA criteria. I voted keep. NCurse work 17:51, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

It has come very far, appropriate references are now used, but I still question:

2a) "Brilliant and compelling" prose, and 2b) Comprehensive:

I can't yet vote Keep on an article filled with typos and grammatical problems, and dubious Fair Use tags on the images.

  • In the lead: Aspergers in children and adults assistance can consists of contraversial therapies that address the core symptoms of the disorder:
  • Research: Some research is to seek information about symptoms to aid in the diagnostic process. Other research is to identify a cause, although much of this research is still done on isolated symptoms. A lot of research have exposed base differences in things such as brain structure. To what end is currently unknown; however, research is on-going.
  • Causes (this is it): The direct cause(s) of AS is unknown. Even though no consensus exists for the cause(s) of AS, it is widely accepted that AS has a hereditary factor.[42] It is suspected that multiple genes play a part in causing AS, since the number and severity of symptoms vary widely among individuals.[5] Studies regarding the mirror neurons in the inferior parietal cortex have revealed differences which may underlie certain cognitive anomolies such as some of those which AS exhibits.[43][44] ther possible causes being investigated include: a serotonin dysfunction and cerebellar dysfunction.[45][46] Simon Baron-Cohen proposes a model for autism based on his empathising-systemising (E-S) theory [47][48]
  • Treatment: A few studies are more useful for determining efficiency of treatment with control group and pre-test and post-test designs and statistic evaluation of efficiency of treatment. These interventions typically are packaged to treat the entire syndrome (UCLA and TEACCH for instance). [55] Side effects are unintended effects. This topic has largely been ignored in the intervention literature on children. [55] Behaviorally based programs rarely include measures of the core symptoms of autism such as the ADI-R or CARS. It seems now it will keep the FA state. Congratulations for your hard work on the article! :) NCurse work 15:57, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Now if we could just get people to work on Race, which has seen no movement. Sandy 21:32, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Autism (removed, subsequently re-promoted)

Problems similar to Asperger syndrome (above) (below). Highly speculative, poorly referenced, link farm, original research, may no longer be accurate or comprehensive. Needs cleanup, or to go to WP:FAR. Sandy 04:18, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Psychosis (removed)

Lead too short, inadequately referenced, may no longer be accurate or comprehensive. Needs cleanup, or to go to WP:FAR. Sandy 04:18, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Psychosis is up for a featured article review. Detailed concerns may be found here. Please leave your comments and help us address and maintain this article's featured quality. Sandy 22:50, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Psychosis (|talk|history|links|watch|logs) has moved to FARC, where you can vote to Keep or Remove its featured status. Some improvements have been made, but there is still much work to be done, and still time to do it. Sandy 14:46, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
  • You wouldn't happen to know anyone with access to those psychosis and leprosy citations, would you? They're both in the American Journal of Psychiatry, and they're the only ones I could find that didn't make it clear that dapsone was the causative agent. The 1959 one had enough abstract to make it clear that leprosy was supposed to be the one stressor at play. The one from 1974 has a PDF that I can't get to. I don't know what it's saying about the 1959 paper.--Rmky87 00:17, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Tuberculosis (kept)

Tuberculosis is up for a featured article review. Detailed concerns may be found here. Please leave your comments and help us address and maintain this article's featured quality. Sandy 14:35, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

TimVickers (talk · contribs)} has made massive improvements to Tuberculosis (|talk|history|links|watch|logs); it could really benefit from additional input from other WikiPhysicians to the issues raised in the featured article review. With some sustained attention over the next weeks, its featured status can be preserved. Sandy 14:44, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Race (removed)

See Wikipedia:Featured article review/Race, assistance with cleanup or participation in FAR would be helpful. Sandy 04:18, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

The article has grown to twice the content of the featured version, via piecemeal edits, with prose and referencing problems. Comparison with the FA version is instructive. Sandy 04:23, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
It will lose FA state. And we didn't include it into Wikipedia Release Version 0.5 due to failing on quality. NCurse work 14:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Removed from template. Looking at the dates in terms of which troubled FAs are the oldest, psychosis would be the next article for FAR. Schizophrenia and autism are in equally bad shape, but psychosis is older. Sandy 17:35, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
