In schools in Australia, England and Wales Year Six is the sixth year after reception. It is the final year of junior school and primary school. Children's ages range between ten and 11 years of age. It is the last year of Key Stage 2. In this year group, most pupils sit the National Curriculum Tests to assess their attainment over the four years of Key Stage 2.

In some parts of England notably South-Eastern region of Kent and some parts of London the Kent Test (or 11-plus colloquially) is still in effect. This determines if a child can be accepted into a Grammar School; it is not compusory however, not sitting the test relinquishes any power to obtain a place at a Grammar School in that, if a child fails the 11-plus a large number of appeals do win (with teacher backing) and places are given to failed candidates.

In Northern Ireland Primary 6 (P6) is the sixth year of compulsory education. It is the penultimate of primary school. Children range between nine and ten years of age.
