Yodit Getahun (born 12 February 1985 in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia) attended Addis Ababa University. In 2003, she became the very first girl to be crowned as “Miss Ethiopia World”. She later participated in 3 International pageants representing Ethiopia and won two international titles. She was the first and the only beauty queen from Africa to participate and to win “Miss Tourism of the Global” Contest in Moscow, Russia and the only Ethiopian beauty queen to win “Miss Congeniality of the Earth” title, in Miss Earth beauty pageant in Manila, Philippines. She had also become the very first girl to participate in Miss International Beauty Pageant in Tokyo, Japan. Miss Ethiopia World beauty pageant was sponsored and organized by London-based Ethiopian Life Foundation. Yodit had become a free will ambassador of the foundation to fight stigma and discrimination against HIV/AIDS Victims and worked with “Dawn of Hope Ethiopia association.
