Zoran Corporation is a multinational digital technology company, headquartered in Silicon Valley. The name Zoran is derived from the Hebrew word for silicon. Zoran is incorporated in the state of Delaware and has offices in Canada, China, England, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the US.1
History
The Zoran Corporation (NASDAQ:ZRAN) was founded in 1983 by Dr. Levy Gerzberg, with focus on DSP technology. In 1997 Zoran acquired CompCore Multimedia and named George T. Haber Executive VP and to its Board of Directors. Mr. Haber started GigaPixel, Mobilygen and now is currently the CEO of CrestaTech. Currently Zoran develops and manufactures chips that are used in a wide range of consumer electronics including DVD players, DVD recorders, HDTV, Digital Cameras and Set-top boxes.
In 2003, Zoran purchased Oak Technologies.
